Terms of Service & Legal Disclaimer

Please read our operational limits, liability boundaries, and testing terms carefully before booking our services.

1. Operational Downtime & Data Liability

Portable Appliance Testing (PAT) inherently requires equipment to be temporarily disconnected from its power source. It is the sole responsibility of the client to ensure all computers, servers, IT networks, and data-sensitive equipment are fully backed up and safely shut down prior to testing. CamJ PAT Testing accepts no liability for business disruption, lost profits, software errors, or data corruption resulting from the standard power isolation required for testing.

2. Pre-Existing Equipment Degradation

During standard handling and testing protocols, old, brittle, or poorly manufactured components (such as aged plastic plug casings, degraded cable sheaths, or loose internal socket terminals) may fail mechanically. CamJ PAT Testing will not be held liable for any damage or mechanical disintegration of equipment that occurs due to pre-existing structural weakness during standard, compliant handling.

3. Handling of Failed Equipment

Any appliance that fails to meet safety thresholds under the IET Code of Practice will be immediately labeled with a red "FAIL" tag and withdrawn from service. To prevent live electrical hazards, plugs may be safely cut or equipment structurally isolated. CamJ PAT Testing accepts zero liability for operational loss or inconvenience caused by decommissioning unsafe assets. If the client chooses to re-commission or use an item against our explicit certified failure notice, they assume all subsequent fire, shock, and legal liabilities.

4. Site Access, Delays & Minimum Charges

As stated in our pricing matrix, a minimum billing threshold of £50 applies to all jobs. Clients must ensure clear, unobstructed access to all appliances at the scheduled time. If testing is delayed or extended due to missing keys, high-security clearance hold-ups without prior notice, or locked rooms, additional site surcharges may occur. Extended travel fees may apply to locations outside our standard local service area.
